Recycling Program Information

What is RE.UNIQLO?

RE.UNIQLO is UNIQLO’s clothing collection program for donation and recycling. It is part of our broader effort to extend the life of our products and reduce textile waste.

Through RE.UNIQLO, customers can return UNIQLO clothing they no longer wear so it can be donated or recycled responsibly and locally, helping keep clothing in use for as long as possible.

What happens to the clothing I donate?

All donated items go through a sorting process led in-house by our store teams:

  • Items in donatable condition are sent to our RE.UNIQLO partner, Covenant House, to be distributed to youth experiencing homelessness through their shelter’s clothing closets.
  • Items that are not in donatable condition are recycled through our textile recycling partner, WM.

This ensures that every item is used in the most responsible way possible and helps keep clothing out of landfills.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • How do I donate clothing?

    Donating is simple:

    • Bring your unwanted UNIQLO clothing to any UNIQLO store
    • Place items in the RE.UNIQLO collection bin
    • RE.UNIQLO bins are available in stores nationwide. Find your nearest store here.
  • What items can I donate?

Most UNIQLO clothing items in gently used condition are accepted

    We do not accept:

    • Innerwear items such as underwear, bras, or socks
    • shoes

UNIQLO only accepts our own clothing items to ensure proper reuse and recycling processing.

  • How do I find the RE.UNIQLO bin?

RE.UNIQLO bins can be found in every UNIQLO store. If you do not see the bin right away, please ask a store associate and they will direct you to it.

  • Do my items need to be clean?

    Yes.

Please wash all clothing before bringing it in. Clean items that are still wearable may be donated for reuse, while items that are no longer wearable can still be accepted for recycling.

  • Can I donate items in any condition?

    Yes.

We accept UNIQLO clothing in a range of conditions, but items should still be clean when dropped off. Wearable items may be donated, and items that are not wearable will be recycled.

    • Wearable items will be donated
    • Non-wearable items will be recycled

This helps ensure that all clothing is handled responsibly, even if it cannot be worn again.

  • Can I donate non-UNIQLO clothing?

At this time, RE.UNIQLO collection bins are designed to accept UNIQLO items only.

  • Is there a limit to how much I can donate?

There is no strict limit, but donations should be reasonable and intended for personal use (not bulk commercial disposal).

  • Do I receive anything for donating?

No. Contributions are voluntary and intended to support reuse and recycling efforts.

  • Why does UNIQLO collect clothing?

UNIQLO believes in taking responsibility for the full lifecycle of the clothing we make.

    Through RE.UNIQLO, we aim to:

    • Reduce clothing waste
    • Extend the life of garments
    • Support communities in need

This helps move toward a more circular approach to clothing.

About Covenant House

Covenant House is the leading organization helping youth and young families overcome homelessness throughout the Americas. They provide 24/7 safe shelter, food, medical and mental healthcare, and an array of supportive services designed to help youth rise and overcome adversity today, and in the future.

About WM

Our goal is to recycle any item that is not in donatable condition with WM, our textile recycling service provider, to ensure our products stay out of landfills. WM provides specialized recycling solutions that can help keep textiles in circulation. Collected UNIQLO items are sent to their facilities to be carefully sorted and processed for potential future reuse or recycling purposes. This means customers can drop off an item in any condition in a RE.UNIQLO bin, and we will work to either donate it or recycle it responsibly through our RE.UNIQLO circular systems.
